Domaine Dubreuil-Fontaine, located in the Côte de Beaune, near Pernand-Vergelesses, is a family wine business in Burgundy. Domaine Dubreuil-Fontaine uses the noble grape varieties of Chardonnay and Pinot noir to make up its wide range of 22 appellations: starting from the fruty Bourgogne, to the lively village, from the prestigious Premier cru to the rare Grand Cru. Its vineyards cover the villages of: Pernand -Vergelesses, Aloxe-Corton and Savigny Les Beaune, Pommard, Beaune and Volnay.
They used cultivating methods that are environmentally friendly; the goal is to produce a rich and healthy harvest whilst ensuring the sustainability of our soils. The wines are a full expression of the Burgundian terroir.
Upon completion of his wine education in Beaune, Roland Lavantureux established his winery 1978 in the village of Lignorelles in the Chablis appellations. In a short period of time, Domaine Lavantureux has become one of the region’s most celebrated and respected producers. In 2010, Roland’s two sons, Arnaud and David, took over the domaine. Together they farm 20 hectares of prime vineyards on kimmeridgian soils across the Chablis appellation, including key premier and grand cru sites such as Vau de Vey and Vaudésir, respectively. Their vineyards are farmed sustainably paying close attention to the natural biodiversity of the surrounding area. In the cellar, the vision of the estate is to produce intensely mineral wines that are reflective of the specific vineyard site.
The Jean Chauvenet domaine is a perfect example of the Burgundian family-run holding: restricted area (9 hectares); numerous appellations (8 in this case) from among the best-known of the Côte de Nuits; and a single grape variety, the Pinot Noir. Together these make for red wines of incomparable texture, delicate and silky.
The domaine is run by Christophe Drag and his wife Christine who work to a single golden rule: respect for the expression of each terroir to yield a range of different wines.
Since 1994 the domaine has turned to low-input cultivation which aims to minimise the use of chemical treatments, and is working towards certification. Since 2003 the vines have been grassed-down. The aim is to limit soil-erosion and temper the soil’s natural vigour in the interests of restricted yield. Christophe Drag also practices rigorous disbudding which leads to better aeration of the grapebunches and hence a healthier crop come harvest-time.
Picking is done by hand, the date depending on the grapes being fully ripe as regards phenols and tannins. In this way wines from the Jean Chauvenet domaine develop the delicacy and elegance which are the hallmark of fine wines, and the structure which presages long keeping qualities.
The Domaine Jerome Chezeaux is located in Premeaux-Prissey, a small village near Nuits-St-Georges. Its origins date back to the 1930s and in 1971 it was bought by the Chezeaux family, who created the Domaine Bernard Chezeaux. In 1993, the property came under the control of Jérôme Chezeaux, who permanently changed the name of the estate to Domaine Jerome Chezeaux. The property is located in the magnificent Côte de Nuits region and covers a total area of 12 hectares, divided into various cultivated plots in the famous communes of: Premeaux-Prissey, Nuits-St-Georges, Vosne-Romanée and Vougeot. It is a mosaic of highly prestigious vineyards, home to some of the most famous and highly rated appellations in the entire Burgundy region.
Since the 19th Century, generations of the Pillot family have cultivated the hills of Chassagne-Montrachet. Today, they run 14,8 ha for a total of 22 appellations spread across Chassagne-Montrachet and Pommard terroirs, but also on the soils of Santeany, Saint-Aubin, Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, Volnay, and Beaune.
Jean-Michel Guillon, born in Paris, settled in Gevrey-Chambertin in the 1980s. With the help of good friend and local winemaker René Galland, he has put the 13 hectare domain on the map. The baton is slowly but surely being passed on to his son Alexis, who has been involved in the domain since 2005.
Guillon’s style is neo-classical. Lush wines in which new wood is not shunned, but always balanced with round and juicy fruit, which also makes the wines very drinkable in their youth.
The Rollin domaine covers fourteen hectares of vineyards. The vineyards are spread over five separate communes (Pernand Vergelesses, Savigny les Beaune, Echevronne, Aloxe Corton and Chorey les Beaune). The estate produces approximately 60,000 bottles per year across fourteen separate appellations!
