NEW ZEALAND - MARLBOROUGH

LITTLE BEAUTY

The aptly named Little Beauty estate is privately owned by winemaker Eveline Fraser (previously of Cloudy Bay). Located in Marlborough’s Southern Valley’s, the property spans five plots, each with its own soil profile and microclimate, allowing the opportunity to make small quantities of truly unique and complex wines.

MAHI
Mahi is a family-owned winery in Marlborough, Aotearoa New Zealand. We make low-intervention, food-friendly wine with balance, structure, and elegance.
POUNAMU
Originally a working sheep farm, Pounamu vineyard and wines are owned by an independent, family company with the talented winemaker, Eveline Fraser, at the helm. The grapes are grown on two terraces of a single vineyard which brings a complexity to the wines due to the difference in the soils.

Behind the vineyard are the mighty Southern Alps. This mountain range forms the backbone of the South Island. This mountainous terrain helps protect our valley from fierce Oceanic winds. Over time it’s pushed down alluvial deposits – terraces of stony, free draining soils – which are well suited for grape growing. On a day-to-day basis these mountains feed our aquifers with exquisitely pure water.

During the ripening season (December – April), Marlborough experiences hot days, but at night the Ocean breeze cools the atmosphere dramatically. This extreme diurnal temperature change means our grapes produce intense flavours throughout the day, yet they are able to preserve and retain acidity from the cool conditions at night. It’s this expression – this sense of place – that you can find in the POUNAMU wines.
